Witchcraft is a sin, considered a violation of the First Commandment because it involves seeking power or knowledge outside of God, relying on occult forces, spells, or spirits, which is seen as usurping God’s role and potentially opening oneself to evil influences. It’s categorized as intrinsically evil, alongside magic and sorcery, because it turns away from God’s divine providence, placing faith in other powers, and can lead to demonic influence, even if practiced by those who don’t explicitly believe in Satan.
