Greed is the excessive, disordered love of riches, power, or possessions, making them an idol above God and neighbor, leading to hoarding and indifference to others’ needs. It’s a capital sin, a “sickness of the heart” (not just the wallet), where one’s possessions control them rather than serving God’s purpose.
