Daniel was a prophet of the Old Testament known for his wisdom, holiness, and unwavering faithfulness to God during the Babylonian captivity. Taken from Jerusalem into exile while still young, Daniel served in the courts of Babylonian and Persian kings, where God granted him the gift of interpreting dreams and visions. Through his wisdom, he revealed mysteries hidden from earthly rulers and proclaimed the power and sovereignty of the true God.
Daniel remained faithful to the Lord despite persecution and pressure to abandon his beliefs. When forbidden to pray to God, he continued his daily prayers openly and was cast into a den of lions. God miraculously protected him, shutting the mouths of the lions and delivering him unharmed. Daniel also received prophetic visions concerning future kingdoms and the coming of God’s eternal reign.
His life stands as a witness to courage, purity, and steadfast trust in God even while living among pagan nations hostile to the faith.
