“Blessed are the Meek” recalls one of the Beatitudes proclaimed by Jesus Christ during the Sermon on the Mount. In Scripture, meekness is not weakness, but the strength to remain humble, patient, and obedient to God even in the face of hardship, injustice, or provocation. The meek place their trust in the Lord rather than seeking power, vengeance, or worldly honor.
Christ Himself is the perfect example of meekness. Though He possessed all authority, He came in humility, served others, and willingly endured suffering for the salvation of mankind. By calling the meek blessed, Christ revealed that true greatness is found in humility and dependence upon God.
The promise that the meek shall inherit the earth points to the victory of God’s kingdom, where those who faithfully submit to His will receive an everlasting inheritance. This Beatitude encourages believers to cultivate gentleness, self-control, and trust in God’s providence.
