The “Breath of Life” recalls the moment when God created man and bestowed life upon him. After forming Adam from the dust of the earth, God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. This act revealed mankind’s unique dignity among all creatures, being created directly by God and made in His image and likeness.
The breath of life signifies that all human life comes from God and depends entirely upon His sustaining power. Throughout the Old Testament, breath is often associated with God’s spirit, power, and life-giving presence. It reminds believers that life is a sacred gift entrusted by the Creator and that humanity is called to live in communion with Him.
The image also points to God’s ability to restore what is dead or lifeless, as seen in prophetic visions where the breath of God brings renewal and restoration to His people.
