Adam was the first man created by God and the father of the human race. Formed from the dust of the earth and given life by the breath of God, Adam was created in the image and likeness of his Creator. God placed him in the Garden of Eden, where he lived in harmony with God and was entrusted with caring for creation.
God later created Eve as Adam’s companion, and together they enjoyed the blessings of paradise. However, when they disobeyed God’s command and ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, sin entered the world. Through this act of disobedience, Adam lost the original holiness in which he had been created, bringing suffering and death upon humanity.
Despite the Fall, God’s plan of salvation began with the promise of a future Redeemer who would overcome sin and restore mankind to friendship with God. Adam remains a foundational figure in salvation history, representing both humanity’s fall and its need for redemption through Jesus Christ, the “”New Adam.””
