Saint Bartolo Longo was an Italian lawyer, convert, and apostle of the Rosary whose life stands as one of the most remarkable stories of conversion in modern Church history. Born into a Catholic family, Bartolo drifted away from the faith during his university years and became deeply involved in anti-Christian and occult practices. Through the prayers of friends, the guidance of a Dominican priest, and the grace of God, he returned to the Catholic faith and dedicated the rest of his life to serving Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
After his conversion, Bartolo devoted himself to spreading devotion to the Holy Rosary. He founded charitable works for the poor, orphans, and children of prisoners, and helped build the famous Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Pompeii, which became one of the world’s most important Marian pilgrimage sites. He became known as the “”Apostle of the Rosary”” because of his tireless efforts to encourage prayer and trust in God’s mercy.
