Nicodemus was a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council who sought to understand the teachings of Jesus. He first came to Christ by night, acknowledging that Jesus had come from God. During this meeting, Jesus taught him about being “”born again”” through water and the Spirit and revealed God’s love for the world (John 3:1–21).
As Jesus’ ministry continued, Nicodemus defended the principle of giving Him a fair hearing before judgment (John 7:45–52). After the Crucifixion, he publicly assisted Joseph of Arimathea in preparing and burying the body of Jesus, bringing a generous amount of spices for the burial (John 19:38–42).
Nicodemus is remembered as a seeker of truth whose faith grew from cautious curiosity to courageous devotion. His story demonstrates the importance of sincere inquiry, spiritual rebirth, and faith in Christ.
