The Gifts of the Magi recall the offerings presented to the infant Jesus by the wise men who came from the East to worship Him. Guided by a star, the Magi found the Christ Child and honored Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2:1–11).
These gifts have long been understood to symbolize important truths about Jesus. Gold represents His kingship, frankincense His divinity and priestly role, and myrrh foreshadows His suffering and death. By offering these treasures, the Magi acknowledged Jesus as the promised King and Savior.
The Gifts of the Magi reveal that Christ is worthy of worship and remind believers to offer Him their own gifts of faith, devotion, and obedience.
