Enoch was a righteous descendant of Adam and the father of Methuselah. Scripture describes him as a man who “walked with God,” living in close fellowship and obedience to the Lord (Genesis 5:21–24). Unlike most figures in the genealogies of Genesis, Enoch did not experience ordinary death. Instead, God took him, making him a unique witness to divine favor and faithfulness.
The New Testament commends Enoch for his faith, teaching that he pleased God and was taken up before experiencing death (Hebrews 11:5). He is also remembered as a prophet who proclaimed God’s coming judgment upon evil (Jude 14–15).
Enoch is honored as an example of holiness, perseverance, and intimate communion with God. His life reminds believers that faithful devotion to the Lord is pleasing in His sight and leads to eternal fellowship with Him.
