“My Lord and My God” is the profound confession made by Saint Thomas the Apostle when he encountered the risen Jesus Christ. After initially doubting the Resurrection, Thomas was invited by Jesus to touch His wounds. Overcome with faith, Thomas responded with one of the clearest declarations of Christ’s divinity in the New Testament (John 20:24–29).
This moment marks a turning point from doubt to full belief, showing that sincere questions can lead to deeper faith when brought before Christ. Jesus blesses those who believe without seeing, extending this beatitude to all future believers.
The phrase “My Lord and My God” expresses complete recognition of Jesus as both sovereign Lord and true God, and remains one of the most powerful affirmations of Christian faith.
