The Last Supper refers to the final meal Jesus Christ shared with His disciples before His Passion. During this meal, Jesus instituted the Eucharist by taking bread and wine, blessing them, and giving them to His disciples, saying they were His Body and Blood given for the salvation of many (Matthew 26:26–28; Luke 22:19–20).
At the Last Supper, Jesus also washed the feet of His disciples, teaching them humility and service (John 13:1–17). He spoke of His impending betrayal, foretold Peter’s denial, and gave His disciples a new commandment to love one another as He had loved them (John 13:34–35).
This sacred event reveals Christ’s sacrificial love, the foundation of Christian worship, and the unity of believers in communion with Him.
