Sister Lúcia dos Santos was the eldest of the three shepherd children who witnessed the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fátima, Portugal, in 1917. Entrusted with communicating the messages of Fátima to the world, Lúcia dedicated her life to prayer, devotion, and spreading the call to repentance, conversion, and the Rosary.
After the apparitions, she entered religious life, first as a Dorothean sister and later as a Carmelite nun. Throughout her long life, she remained faithful to the mission she believed had been entrusted to her, encouraging devotion to God and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Unlike her cousins Francisco and Jacinta, who died as children, Lúcia lived for many decades, providing testimony about the events of Fátima and helping preserve their message.
Her life serves as an example of perseverance, obedience, and faithful dedication to God’s call.
