The Apparition of Fátima refers to a series of Marian apparitions reported by Sister Lúcia dos Santos, Saint Francisco Marto, and Saint Jacinta Marto in 1917 near Fátima, Portugal. Over six monthly apparitions, the Blessed Virgin Mary called for prayer, repentance, conversion, and devotion to God. She especially encouraged the praying of the Rosary for peace and the salvation of souls.
The apparitions culminated on October 13, 1917, with the event commonly known as the “”Miracle of the Sun,”” witnessed by a large crowd. The message of Fátima emphasized trust in God, prayer for sinners, and perseverance during times of suffering and uncertainty.
Since then, Fátima has become one of the world’s most important pilgrimage destinations, inspiring countless Christians to deepen their faith and commitment to prayer.
