Saint Euphrasia of Constantinople was a young noblewoman of the early Church who chose a life of consecration to God rather than wealth and worldly status. According to tradition, she and her mother moved to Egypt, where Euphrasia devoted herself to prayer, fasting, and works of charity. After her mother’s death, she distributed their possessions to the poor and embraced a simple and ascetic life.
Euphrasia is remembered for her deep humility, detachment from material wealth, and commitment to spiritual growth. Her life reflects the Christian ideal of seeking God above all earthly attachments. She is honored in Eastern Christian tradition as an example of purity, ascetic discipline, and faithful devotion.
