Moses was chosen by God to deliver the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and lead them toward the Promised Land. As an infant, he was saved from Pharaoh’s decree and raised in the Egyptian royal household. After fleeing Egypt, Moses encountered God in the burning bush on Mount Horeb, where he was commanded to confront Pharaoh and free God’s people.
Through Moses, God sent the ten plagues upon Egypt, parted the Red Sea, and provided the Law to Israel on Mount Sinai, including the Ten Commandments. Moses served as prophet, leader, judge, and intercessor for the people, repeatedly pleading to God for mercy on Israel despite their rebellion and sin. Scripture describes him as a faithful servant who spoke with God “face to face.” Though Moses died before entering the Promised Land, his leadership and obedience established him as one of the greatest figures of the Old Testament.
