The Gift of Strength refers especially to the extraordinary strength given by God to Samson, one of the Judges of Israel. Samson’s strength was not merely a natural ability but a special gift empowered by the Spirit of the Lord for the deliverance of Israel from its enemies.
One of the most famous examples of this divine strength occurred when Samson encountered a young lion on the road to Timnah. As the lion attacked him, “”the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him,”” and Samson tore the lion apart with his bare hands. This event demonstrated that true strength comes from God and that He can empower His servants to accomplish what would otherwise be impossible.
Throughout Samson’s life, his strength served as a sign of God’s power working through a chosen individual. At the same time, Samson’s story also teaches that God’s gifts must be accompanied by faithfulness and obedience.

Samson defeats a lion by the power of the Spirit of the Lord.
Judges 15:14–16
Samson defeats a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey.
Judges 16:28–30
God grants Samson strength one final time to defeat the Philistines.
