“A Divine Warning” represents the many times God mercifully warned individuals and nations before bringing judgment upon sin and disobedience. Throughout the Old Testament, God sent prophets, visions, dreams, signs, and angelic messengers to call His people to repentance and to turn them away from destruction. These warnings revealed not only God’s justice but also His patience and desire for sinners to return to Him.
Before the Flood, God warned through Noe’s preaching. Before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrha, angels were sent to Lot. Prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezechiel repeatedly warned Israel and Judah of the consequences of idolatry, injustice, and covenant unfaithfulness. In many cases, those who heeded God’s warning found deliverance, while those who rejected it suffered the foretold judgment.
A divine warning therefore symbolizes God’s mercy before judgment and His continual call to conversion. It reminds believers that God desires repentance and salvation rather than punishment, offering opportunities to return to Him before consequences arrive.
