The Cherubim are one of the highest orders of angels and are closely associated with the glory, wisdom, and presence of God. Throughout Sacred Scripture, Cherubim appear as heavenly guardians who serve before the Lord and carry out His divine will. They are often depicted as surrounding God’s throne and manifesting His majesty throughout creation.
After the fall of Adam and Eve, God placed Cherubim at the entrance of the Garden of Eden to guard the way to the Tree of Life. Later, images of Cherubim were commanded to be placed upon the Ark of the Covenant and within the Temple, signifying the presence and holiness of God among His people. The Prophet Ezechiel also received magnificent visions of heavenly beings identified with the Cherubim, revealing their role in the manifestation of God’s glory.
Throughout Christian tradition, the Cherubim are especially associated with divine wisdom, knowledge of God, and faithful guardianship of sacred things. They remind believers of God’s holiness and the reverence due to His presence.
