Aaron was the older brother of Moses and the first High Priest of Israel. Chosen by God to assist Moses in leading the Israelites out of Egypt, Aaron served as his spokesman before Pharaoh because Moses was reluctant to speak publicly. Through God’s power, Aaron participated in many of the signs and wonders that preceded Israel’s liberation from slavery.
After the Exodus, God appointed Aaron and his descendants to the priesthood, establishing him as the first High Priest. He offered sacrifices, interceded for the people, and oversaw the sacred worship of Israel in the Tabernacle. Aaron played a central role in guiding the nation during its journey through the wilderness, though he also shared in some of its failures, demonstrating both the dignity and frailty of those called to serve God.
Aaron’s priesthood foreshadowed the greater priesthood of Jesus Christ, the eternal High Priest. His life remains a witness to service, intercession, and the importance of faithful worship before God.
