King Solomon was the son of King David and Bathsheba and the third king of Israel. Chosen by God to succeed David, Solomon became renowned for his extraordinary wisdom, which he humbly requested from the Lord instead of riches, power, or long life. Pleased with this request, God granted him wisdom greater than any ruler of his time.
Solomon’s reign was marked by peace, prosperity, and the flourishing of Israel. He is especially remembered for building the Temple in Jerusalem, the sacred dwelling place of the Ark of the Covenant and the center of Israel’s worship. His wisdom was demonstrated in his judgments, teachings, proverbs, and writings, attracting visitors from distant nations who sought his counsel.
Though Solomon accomplished great things and received many blessings from God, Scripture also records that he later allowed foreign influences to lead him away from complete fidelity to the Lord. His life serves as both an example of God-given wisdom and a reminder of the importance of remaining faithful throughout one’s life.
