Saint Alimus Maccabee was one of the Seven Holy Maccabean Brothers who suffered martyrdom during the persecution initiated by King Antiochus IV Epiphanes. Together with his brothers and their mother, Solomonia, Alimus faced intense pressure to abandon the Law of God and conform to pagan practices. Rather than betray the covenant, he chose to remain faithful unto death.
The Maccabean brothers endured torture with remarkable courage, drawing strength from their trust in God’s justice and mercy. Though their persecutors sought to break their faith, Alimus and his brothers remained steadfast, believing that obedience to God was worth more than earthly life. Their witness became a powerful testimony to perseverance, fidelity, and hope in the resurrection.
The martyrdom of Alimus is remembered as part of the heroic sacrifice of the Holy Maccabean Martyrs. Their faithfulness under persecution inspired generations of Jews and Christians alike and foreshadowed the witness of those who would later die for Christ and His Gospel.
