The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most important teachings of Jesus Christ, delivered to His disciples and the crowds on a mountainside (Matthew 5–7). In this sermon, Jesus reveals the heart of God’s Kingdom, teaching about true righteousness, humility, mercy, purity, and love.
He begins with the Beatitudes, blessing those who are poor in spirit, meek, merciful, and pure in heart (Matthew 5:3–12). Jesus then calls His followers to be “the light of the world” and “the salt of the earth,” emphasizing their mission in the world (Matthew 5:13–16). He deepens the meaning of the Law by focusing on inner transformation rather than external obedience alone.
The sermon includes teachings on prayer (the Lord’s Prayer), forgiveness, trust in God’s provision, and the importance of building one’s life on a solid foundation of obedience to His words.
