Virgin Mary at Fátima, Portugal, in 1917. Though very young, Jacinta was deeply moved by the messages of prayer, repentance, and conversion. She became known for her great love of God, compassion for sinners, and willingness to offer sacrifices for the salvation of souls.
Following the apparitions, Jacinta embraced a life of prayer and penance with remarkable devotion. During her final illness, she endured suffering with patience and offered it for the conversion of sinners and in reparation for offenses against God. Her holiness, simplicity, and trust in God made her an inspiring example of childlike faith.
Together with her brother Francisco, Jacinta became one of the youngest non-martyrs to be canonized by the Catholic Church.
