Saint Francisco Marto was one of the three shepherd children who witnessed the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fátima, Portugal, in 1917. Known for his gentle nature and contemplative spirit, Francisco was especially devoted to prayer and spending time in the presence of God. After the apparitions, he became deeply committed to consoling Jesus through prayer and sacrifice, responding faithfully to the messages entrusted to the children.
Though young in age, Francisco displayed remarkable spiritual maturity. He willingly embraced sacrifices, prayed the Rosary faithfully, and accepted illness with peace and trust in God. His life was marked by simplicity, humility, and a profound love for God. He died at the age of ten, leaving behind a lasting example of holiness and childlike faith.
Francisco’s witness reminds believers that intimacy with God is possible at any age and that a life of prayer can profoundly impact the world.
