St. Philip the Evangelist was one of the Seven chosen by the Apostles to assist in the ministry of the early Church (Acts 6:1–6). Filled with faith and zeal, he became a prominent preacher of the Gospel and played an important role in the spread of Christianity beyond Jerusalem.
Philip proclaimed Christ in Samaria, where many believed and were baptized (Acts 8:4–13). He is especially remembered for his encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch, whom he instructed in the Scriptures and baptized after explaining the prophecy of Isaiah as referring to Jesus Christ (Acts 8:26–39). Through this event, Philip helped bring the Gospel to new peoples and regions.
His life demonstrates obedience to the Holy Spirit, missionary courage, and dedication to sharing the Good News. Philip is remembered as a faithful evangelist who helped fulfill Christ’s command to proclaim the Gospel to all nations.
