“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.” This is one of the precepts called beatitudes, which Jesus taught the people as he spread the news about the Kingdom of Heaven. Meekness is sometimes misunderstood. Someone who is meek is not a person who allows themselves to be abused and then considers it a virtue. It is not one who gets bullied and then sees themselves as a justified victim. Meekness begins with a mild disposition and a gentleness of spirit. It is a silent, hidden gift that radiates with power as it reveals the presence of God in a human soul. The Earth, in the words of Christ, will one day be given to those who have allowed God to dwell within them, and who humbly demonstrate this amazing gift in their actions towards others.
